Bet types

Straight

The most common type of sports wager is on the final score of a single game, known as a straight wager. One team is typically favored over another by a point spread; the favorite gives the underdog points as a head start, for betting purposes. The favorite is always indicated by a minus sign (-3) and the underdog by a plus sign (+3). The amount of points you must give or take is estimated to be the amount, which will generate equal wagering on both the underdog and the favorite. For betting purposes, the result of the game is determined by taking the actual score and subtracting points from the favorite’s score or adding points to the underdog’s score. So, a favorite can win the actual game but lose the bet by not covering the spread; an underdog can lose the actual game but win for betting purposes by covering the spread.

Totals

You can also bet whether the combined number of points or goals scored by the two teams in the game will be over or under the total set by the oddsmaker. For example, if the total is 42 and you believe that the combined points scored by the two teams will exceed that number, you would bet over. You would bet under if you believe the total points score will be less than 42.

Money Line

A money line is used in addition to or instead of a point spread on a match up between two teams. In this case, you must bet more to wager on the favorite. For example, the New York Yankees are a -150 favorite over the Colorado Rockies. You must “lay” $150 in order to win $100. If New York loses, you lose $150. However, you could bet on Colorado, in which case you would lay $100 in order to win $140 (10 cent line). If Colorado loses, you only lose $100, and if Colorado wins, you would win $140. LowVig.ag offers both money line and point spread options on most sports.

Parlay

A parlay is a bet on two or more teams or selections. You can combine different sports, point spreads and money lines. In a parlay your original stake and winnings are re-invested on the next game and all selections must be correct – one loss and your parlay loses. In the event of a push (tie), game cancellation or a pitcher that you have specified not starting, the parlay reduces to the next lower number, e.g. a four-team parlay becomes a three-team parlay. A winning parlay wager will pay many times more than the initial wager.

PARLAY ODDS

# of Teams Payout
2 13 to 5
3 6 to 1
4 10 to 1
5 25 to 1
6 40 to 1
7 75 to 1
8 150 to 1
9 300 to 1
10 700 to 1

NOTES: In the event that a three-or-more-team parlay results in a tie, it will reduce the wager to the next lowest payoff. For example, a four-team parlay will become a three-team parlay, and a three-team parlay will become a two-team parlay. For wagering purposes, two-team parlays where there is a tie will be paid off as a straight wager.

*All parlays will pay up to a maximum of $150,000. However, the maximum amount a player may win in any 24 hour period is $150,000.

In a parlay, you may not play both sides of the same game. If you play both sides of the same game, any winning wagers on the game will be canceled.

For example:
Denver Broncos 32 1/2
New England Patriots -3

If you play New England Patriots in a parlay, we ask you not to play Denver Broncos in another parlay, likewise if you play over 32 1/2 in one parlay we ask you not to play under 32 1/2 in another parlay.

Combination Baseball Payoffs

Decimal Conversion Chart

Because of the money line used in baseball, there are no set payoffs for tying a number of teams together in parlays. Payoffs are determined by a simple formula that changes the money line into a decimal number and combines it with the other lines in the parlay.

The first step is to change the money line into its decimal value. Use the following chart for this purpose.

-105 = .95

-145 = .69

-185 = .54

-250 = .40

-110 = .91

-150 = .66

-190 = .53

Calculating Baseball Parlays

For each PRICE or ODDS quote on your teams, look at their respective PAYOFFS above (to $1) and always add $1 to these payoffs.

Multiply your BET by the products of these payoffs (+$1) for your parlay return.

Bet $50 on Astros (-150) parlayed to Braves (+130)

Teasers

A Teaser is a bet on two or more teams or selections. The difference between a teaser and a parlay is that in a teaser YOU ADJUST (tease) THE LINE IN YOUR FAVOR.

For example: If New England Patriots are favored by seven points in one game and the Buffalo Bills are favored by 10 points in a second game. A six-point, two-team teaser would adjust the point spread six points in your favor; i.e. New England would now be favored by one point (7 – 6 = 1) and Buffalo would now be favored by four points (10 – 6 = 4).

You could make a two-team, six-point teaser bet with Buffalo and New England. In this example are betting that Buffalo will win by more than four points (10 – 6 = 4) and New England will win by more than one point ( 7 – 6 = 1). In the case of a tie or push in a two-team teaser, your wager is refunded. ANY LOSS IN A TEASER CONSTITUTES A LOSS FOR THE ENTIRE WAGER.

A tie or push in a three-to-seven team teaser will reduce the wager to the next lowest level. i.e. a six-team teaser with a push becomes a five-team teaser.

Note regarding NFL two, three and four team teasers:

A premium charge is applied when you place an NFL two, three or four team teaser that either:

1) Crosses over both three and seven points
2) Lands on three or seven points, while crossing over the other
3) Comes off of three or seven points, while crossing over the other

An extra five cents is charged for each team that falls under one of the three aforementioned categories in a two team teaser.

An extra three cents is charged for each team that falls under one of the three aforementioned categories in a three or four team teaser.

For example, you want to place a two team six-point teaser on the favorites of the following game lines:

Ravens (+9) vs. Broncos (-9)
Jaguars (+14) vs. Patriots (-14)

By teasing the Broncos down from -9 to -3 points and the Patriots down from -14 to -8 points, you will be charged an extra five-cents since one team (Broncos) crossed over seven points while landing on three points. The juice on this teaser would be -115.

If both teams fall under one of the three aforementioned categories, an extra 10-cents will be charged For example, you want to place a two team six-point teaser on the underdogs of the following game lines:

Buccaneers (-2.5) vs. Jets (+2.5)
Seahawks (-3) vs. Panthers (+3)

By teasing the Jets up from +2.5 to +8.5 points and the Panthers up from +3 to +9 points, you will be charged an extra 10-cents, since the Jets crossed over both three and seven; while the Panthers came off three and crossed over seven. The juice on this teaser would be -120.

Special Teasers

Players have the opportunity to enjoy enormous football and basketball teasers. For NFL and College Football the lines can be moved by 10 or 13 points. While NBA and College Basketball lines can move by eight or nine points. The handicapping decisions that you make may now have a comfortable margin of error.

4 TEAMS

NFL/NCAAFB 13 10-15
NBA/NCAABK 9 10-15

Push or tie result a loss.

NFL PLEASERS

Pleasers are very similar to teasers with one major difference. Whereas with teasers you move the line in your favor, with pleasers you move the line in the opposite direction. For this reason you will notice very generous payouts.

For example, let’s say you want to make a two team six-point pleaser on the underdogs of the following games:

Ravens (+9) vs. Broncos
Bengals (+3) vs. Bears

By pleasing the two underdogs, the Ravens would move from +9 down to +3 and the Bengals would move from +3 underdogs to -3 favorites. Both teams would have to cover their adjusted spreads in order for the bet to win. The payout on this example would be +600.

6-PT NFL PLEASERS
2 Teams Pays 6 to 1
3 Teams Pays 17 to 1
4 Teams Pays 45 to 1
5 Teams Pays 120 to 1
6 Teams Pays 300 to 1

NOTES: In the event that a three-or-more-team pleasers results in a tie, it will reduce the wager to the next lowest payoff. For example, a four-team pleaser will become a three-team pleaser, and a three-team pleaser will become a two-team pleaser. For wagering purposes, two-team pleasers where there is a tie-win or tie-tie will result in no action, while a tie-loss will result in a loss.

*Pleasers are for NFL only.

Future

A future bet is a wager on an event or outcome that will be determined sometime in the future. For example, it might be a bet made at the start of the season on the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl. Future odds change continuously throughout the season – YOU GET THE ODDS IN EFFECT AT THE TIME YOU BET. Future bets often have high odds.

If – Win (Single Action)

An If-Win Only wager is an excellent choice for money management. You wager a fixed amount on one team if that team wins the game only, then another fixed amount, up to the original amount shall be placed on your next team. Your first wager must win in order for you to have action on the remaining wagers. If the first wager loses, there is No Action thereafter. You cannot have duplicate teams in the same If Win Tie Cancel.

If – Win-Tie-Cancel (Double Action)

An If-Bet wager is also an excellent choice for money management. You wager a fixed amount on one team, and if that team wins, ties, or is cancelled, then another fixed amount, up to the original amount shall be placed on your next team. Your first wager must win, tie, or be cancelled in order for you to have action on the remaining wagers. If the first wager loses, there is No Action thereafter. You cannot have duplicate teams in the same If Win-Tie-Cancel wager.

Reverses

A Reverse wager is the same as two “If Win” bets. If wager A wins, the bet goes to wager B. If B wins, the bet goes to wager A. If wager A loses, the bet does not go to wager B. If wager B loses, the bet does not go to wager A. If wager A wins, the bet goes to wager B and if wager B loses, the bet does not go to wager A. Standard reverse bets are Double Action; therefore in the event of a tie the bet is still active.

A golfer is deemed to have played once he or she has teed off. In the event of a player withdrawing after having teed off, wagers on that player will be lost. All future bets on to win the tournament are settled on the player awarded the Trophy and includes any playoff.
  • In the event a tournament does not go the specified number of completed holes (usually 72) and the tournament is shortened by PGA officials, the winner that has officially been determined by the PGA will be the winner for wagering purposes. If at least 36 holes have not been played, all wagers will be deemed NO action, and stakes refunded.
  • In the event that two (or more) golfers are tied for the lead at the end of regulation play, a sudden death or specified hole playoff, will be used to determine the winner of the tournament. In this case, the winner of the playoff is the winner for betting purposes.
  • The “Field” includes all players not offered by name.

Matchups

  • Matchups for the entire tournament are listed as PGA, EURO PGA or LPGA.

  • Players are paired; they may or may not be playing together.
  • Both players must tee-off for action.
  • If both players tee off, the golfer with the most completed holes is the winner of the match-up; if both players complete the same number of holes, the one with the lower score is the winner.
  • If one player misses the cut, the other player is deemed the winner. If both players miss the cut, the lowest score after the cut has been made will determine the winner.
  • If a player is disqualified or withdraws after starting, either prior to the completion of two rounds or after both players has made the cut, the other player is deemed the winner.
  • If a player is disqualified during either the 3rd or 4th rounds, when the other player in the match bet has already missed the cut, the disqualified player will be considered the winner.
  • In the event of a tie all wagers will be a push and stakes refunded.

  • Individual Round matchups still have action in the event of any delay or postponement providing the stated round is completed.

3 Balls

  • Golf 3 balls are for the stated Round only and all 3 players must tee off for action. In the event of a tie at the end of the round dead heat rules will apply.

Groups

  • Group wagers (Top American, Top European etc.) are for the entire tournament and include only those players listed. Players must tee off for action. In the event of a tie dead heat rules will apply.

Dead Heat Rule

  • For golf wagers containing more than two participants (3 balls or groups) where two or more players tie for the same place the dead heat rule is applied as follows:
The wager is reduced according to how many players tie and is then applied to the full odds with the remainder of the stake deemed as lost.
  • For example:
    • You wager $100 at odds of +200 and 2 players tie for the same position.
Half the stake is lost -$50
The other half wins and is paid the same odds. So $50 wins at +200
    • If 3 players tie for the same position then:
Two thirds of the stake is lost -$66.66
      The remaining third $33.33 wins.

Please note this rule does not apply to two player matchups where a tie results in a push.

Boxing / MMA Rules

  • Unless noted otherwise, the fight must happen within one week of the scheduled date or it will be graded no-action. Venue changes within the same country will not affect the status of pending wagers – they will still have action. However, when the venue is moved to a different country, pending wagers will be no-actioned.
  • When the bell sounds to begin the first round, the bout will be considered official for betting purposes, regardless of the scheduled length or title.
  • If either fighter fails to answer the bell for the next round then his opponent will be deemed to have won in the previous round.
  • In the event of a fight being declared a ‘No Contest’ all bets will be void and stakes returned, with the exception of markets where the outcome has already been determined.
  • If the scheduled length of the match is changed, all prior wagers on the number of rounds of the bout will be graded as ‘No Action’.
  • Each round is three minutes in duration; a half-round is defined as ninety seconds. When wagering on total rounds, please note that a line of 9 1/2 ROUNDS, MEANS 1:30 INTO THE 10TH ROUND! Nine complete rounds, plus 1:30 of the 10th. UFC Championship Fights: Each round is 5 minutes in duration, a half round is defined as (150) One Hundred and Fifty seconds. When wagering on totals rounds, please note that a line of 1.5 rounds means 2:30 into the 2nd round. One complete round, plus 2:30 of round 2.
  • For wagering purposes, the disqualification of a boxer during a match will be counted as a knockout by his opponent.
  • If the wagering offer on a match includes the draw as a third option and the match ends in a draw, wagers on the draw will be paid while wagers on either fighter will be lost. If the wagering offer includes only the two boxers — with the draw either not offered or offered as a separate proposition — and the match ends in a draw, wagers on either fighter will be refunded.

In situations not covered by the previous rules, the wagering decision announced by the Don Best Sports information service will be considered official and binding.

For any instances not mentioned here, Las Vegas wagering rules apply.

  • Bets on NASCAR are Graded after the post-race inspection process is complete and an official result is declared.
  • Drivers must start the race for action. • The podium positions will be used to determine first, second and third for betting purposes. All results for Formula One bets are governed by the FIA’s classification at the time of the podium presentation.
  • In head-to-head match-ups, both drivers must start the race for the wager to be considered “action”.

Motorbike Racing

  • Riders in place for the start of the warm up lap for race 1 are deemed as runners for race.

Rugby

Rugby League and Rugby Union

  • Unless otherwise stated, all Rugby wagers will be decided on regulation time only (80 minutes plus any time added on for stoppages).
  • Rugby uses a three-way moneyline which includes the draw (tie) as a wagering option.
  • Spreads and Totals for Rugby are regular two-way lines.
  • Should a game be abandoned or postponed for any reason and is not completed within 24 hours of the scheduled start time then all wagers will be considered void.
  • In the event of a change of venue, bets will stand providing the change isn’t to the opponent’s ground. In this instance bets will be void.
  • The home team is always listed on top.
  • All NRL, Super Rugby AU and Super Rugby Aotearoa matches will be graded on the official result including any extra-time period.

Soccer Rules

  • All Soccer games are listed with the home team on top unless otherwise stated.
  • Unless otherwise stated all Soccer wagers for the period of the game are for regulation time only (90 minutes plus any time added on for stoppages) and do not include periods of extra time (overtime) or penalty shootouts.
  • Soccer uses a three-way moneyline which includes the Draw (tie) as a wagering option.
  • Regular spreads and totals as well as Asian Handicap spreads and totals are offered. We only accept straight bets on Asian Handicap quarter lines ( 0.75). (Please see below for a detailed explanation of how Asian Handicaps work).
  • If a game is abandoned or postponed for any reason, all wagers will stand provided the game is played or re-started within 24 hours of the original kickoff time. If the game is not player or re-started within 24 hours then all wagers will be considered void with the exception of 1st half wagers if they have already been settled.
  • The only exception to the above rule is if the relevant governing body deems an abandoned match to be completed and declares the result to stand. Then we will settle all wagers as normal provided at least 80 minutes has been played.
  • In the event of a change of venue, all wagers will stand providing the change isn’t to the away team’s home ground in which case all wagers will be void.
  • Any prop bets such as number of corners, yellow cards or first goalscorer will be settled according to information on the official website of the relevant league or competition.
  • Same game parlays are not permitted on Soccer matches. e.g. You cannot parlay the Moneyline/Spread into the Total on the same game. In the event that same game parlays are accepted in error through any available channel then we reserve the right to cancel those wagers.
  • All soccer future bets have action unless otherwise stated.

Asian Handicap Soccer Spreads and Totals

In addition to regular full or half point spreads and totals, Asian Handicaps also use quarter point lines. Therefore a spread line of -0.75 would be written as -½ ,-1. What this effectively does is to split your single bet in half, applying half to the -½ handicap and half to the -1 handicap.
For example:
You wager $110 to win $100 on Manchester United -½ ,-1 and they win 2-1. You win $50 as you’ve won the half of your bet at -½ but only pushed the half of the bet at -1.
Totals work in the same way, so a total of 2.25 is written as 2, 2½.
In another example let’s say Manchester United win 2-0 and you’ve wagered $110 to win $100 on Over 2, 2½. This time you lose $55 as you push the total of 2 but lose on the 2½. If the final score would have been 2-1 for a total of 3 goals then you’d win $100 as you win both parts of the bet.

Tennis Rules

  • One full set must be completed for moneyline wagers to have action.
  • The full match must be completed for any spread or total wagers to have action. This includes both game spreads and totals and set spread and totals.
  • Unless specifically stated tennis spreads and totals refer to the number of games.
  • The full match must also be completed for any prop bets to have action with the exception of 1st set bets if it has already been completed.
  • If a match is suspended or postponed for any reason, all wagers will stand provided the match is played or re-started within 72 hours of the original start time.
  • All Tennis future bets have action unless otherwise stated.

MMA, boxing, golf and racing (e.g., NASCAR) cannot be included in a parlay. Proposition bets/futures cannot be included in parlays.

Cricket Rules

Test Matches

Wagers will be settled on the official result providing at least one ball has been bowled. In the event of a tie dead heat rules will apply and wagers on the draw will be deemed losers.

A Tie will occur when all four innings have been completed and both teams have the exact same score.

A Draw will occur if all four innings have not been completed at the end of the five days play regardless of the score.

Limited Over’s Matches

Wagers will be settled on the official result including:

  • Weather affected games where the result has been determined by the Duckworth Lewis method.
  • Games that are decided by a Super Over or a Bowl Out.

In the event of a Tie all wagers will be graded as a push provided a Super Over or Bowl Out has not occurred.

Games decided by the toss of a coin will be deemed void and all wagers graded as a push.

In games where a reserve day is used all wagers will stand and carry over to the reserve day.

What racing rebates can I expect?

You will receive daily horse rebates up to 7%.

Do you offer futures, props and matchups for horses?

Yes, we offer head-to-head daily matchups. The matchups are generally taken from the major tracks of the day. Pay close attention to the notes you will see with each matchup since they will cover things like scratches, races moved off the turf, coupled entries etc.

Horse futures and propositions are usually offered for major events like the Triple Crown, Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont Stakes and the Breeders’ Cup. You’ll find all of these in the ‘Futures & Props section of the site.

How close to the start of the race can I place my bet?

We make every effort possible to accept wagers on all the tracks we offer until the post time of each race. We do not however have access to video feeds from the tracks we offer and we rely on a service to establish the cutoff time for betting.

Do you have live odds?

No, the odds you see posted on our site are Morning Line Odds. They are an estimate of what each horse’s final odds will be. The live odds will be determined by the money bet on each horse at the track. We pay full track odds but the money you wager with us does not go into the track betting pools.
